AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Students will be assesed by Ms. Paula Urrutia, the Artistic/Pedagogical Director of the School, to ensure they are placed in the appropriate level for their personal development.


The classes in our program are carefully graded by age, physical strength and development.

 

Students are introduced to progressive levels of ballet technique as stated in the Cecchetti Method.

Ballet: Elementary I



This class is for students  who are just starting ballet or have done 1 or 2 years of ballet before the course will concentrate on basic barre and centre practice work to help students develop a strong base in classical ballet.  It is common for young students to be placed at this level for more that 1 year.

Ballet: Elementary II



This class will transition students from elementary 1 and enter a more structured class environment. They will continue to work on technique for barre and centre practice focusing on strength and increasing flexibility.  It is common for young students to be placed at this level for more that 1 year.

Ballet: Intermediate I



This class is part of the classical ballet program offered at Ballet Montreal Performing Arts.

this level of instruction. Classes are 1.5 hours / 3 times a week. Students participate in year end
performance.

Pre-Ballet, Tap and Creative Movement


We offer a range of classes for children from 3 to 12 that will introduce movement, and emphasizes on their natural creativity.

Ballet: Intermediate II



This class is part of the classical ballet program offered at Ballet Montreal Performing Arts.

this level of instruction. Classes are 1.5 hours / 3 times a week. Students participate in year end
performance.

Ballet: Advanced Level



This is part of the ballet program offered at Ballet Montreal Performing Arts. Please contact our artistic director, Paula Urrutia, directly for more detailed information regarding this level of instruction. Classes are 2.0 hours / 3 times a week. Students participate in year end performance.

Modern & Contemporary



An advanced level contemporary technique dance class, based on release and floor work.
Dancers will gain a deeper knowledge of the spirals of the body and the body’s natural weight to
generate technically sound momentum and movement. Class is 1.5 hours, once a week. Students
participate in year end performance.

Tap



An intermediate level class that develops tap technique through rhythm and musicality, in a
format that focuses on the classical tap dance form.
Class is 1 ~1.5 hours, once a week. Students participate in year end performance.

Hip Hop​



An intermediate level Hip Hop class.

Class is 1.5 hours, once a week. Students participate in year end performance.

Barre a Terre



This is a body conditioning, floor work class. This class exercises will work
on all the muscles of the body, emphasizing abdominal strengthening and flexiblity, as well as
back flexibility and strength needed for classical ballet. This class can be used as part of a regular
workout. It is one hour long, once a week.
