Contemporary Dance
The dance style which is one of the most appealing to young dancers who have begun to master basic ballet skills is "contemporary" dance. It incorporates elements of classical ballet as well as modern dance techniques. It is an expressive form of dance combining elements from ballet, jazz and lyrical styles. Fluid dance movements aim to connect the mind with the body. Often the focus is on floorwork and gravity, with the dance done in bare feet, to many different genres of music.

If you are dancing with another school we are happy to discuss how the contemporary program at Ballet Montreal fits in with your schedule.
